Hands On Forsyth is a volunteer initiative of the Forsyth County Community Connection. This initiative began in 2005 in response to the need for a centralized volunteer resource program in our community. This need has been recognized by many community leaders and organizations, primarily United Way of Forsyth County through their Community Needs Assessment of 2004. The Forsyth County Community Connection felt that our organization would be effective in filling this need because of our existing relationship with local non-profit organizations. In January 2005, the Leadership Forsyth Class expressed interest in helping form an affiliate of Hands On Georgia here in Forsyth County and partnered with us and United Way in establishing Hands On Forsyth.
Hands On Forsyth will create, manage, refer, and lead hands-on projects that positively impact the lives of people in need in Cumming and Forsyth County. HOF works with dozens of local non-profit organizations, churches, community groups and neighborhood associations. Whether large or small, HOF matches our partner organizations with committed volunteers. It is our hope that Hands On Forsyth projects will provide many opportunities for Cumming and Forsyth County residents to become actively involved in local volunteerism.
Hands On Forsyth relies heavily on leadership volunteers who have made the extra commitment to HOF and give to us their greatest assets, their time and their expertise. We also rely heavily on sponsorships from individuals and businesses in order to coordinate projects and meet the needs of the organizations.
